In an article by the President of the “Center for International Leadership,” in New York City, “BUSINESS FORUM: THE MORAL DILEMMA; Yes, Socrates, Ethics Can Be Taught” today, he poses the interesting question of whether you can teach business ethics. As the title suggests, the answer to the question is “Yes,” but not in the traditional way.
In his article, he states that most business people “are firmly convinced that there is nothing in life more precious than integrity. And they believe there are situations when economic security is not worth the inner torment that normally follows a wrong choice.”
He also suggests that the punishment for lying in business is not normally a “social punishment,” but that “inner torment.” Very interesting read.
