I recently received the email below with the invitation to join Borders Rewards Perks. What if we recruited sponsors to provide discounts to our members such as the ones below? How hard would it be to recruit sponsors? Would this be a way to attract more members? Could this be done on a National and/or Chapter level? Any thoughts?

Is there a concern about implied endorsement?
I think this is the same issue we discussed with advertising on the blog. Every university I know does it. When you see the ads at the Marriott Center or any University sports facility, I don’t think it implies endorsement. When the Boy Scouts sell popcorn, it means they are trying to raise money, not officially sponsor the popcorn. Same when school kids sell discount books for their school or sports team. Does anyone else have any thoughts?
